Wedding! Mick + Emma-Lee [Queen’s Landing, Niagara-on-the-Lake]
Mick and Emma-Lee’s wedding at Queen’s Landing in Niagara-on-the-Lake was one of those days that had a little bit of everything: beautiful details, a ceremony that had me crying behind my camera, their sweet dog Babette, an incredible dinner and a reception that got VERY competitive by the end of the night.
They both got ready right at Queen’s Landing, which made the beginning of the day feel so relaxed.
Once everyone was ready, Mick and Emma-Lee met in the gardens for their first look and had a few quiet moments together before heading inside to get married.
Their ceremony took place in the Atrium at Queen’s Landing and apparently I was emotionally unprepared for it because I cried basically the entire time. It was heartfelt, personal and one of those ceremonies where you can really feel how much two people love each other and how loved they are by everyone in the room.
Afterwards, we headed outside for family photos in front of the beautiful pillars at Queen’s Landing and even managed a pretty successful group photo!
Afterwards, we headed over to Nelson Park with the wedding party. Niagara-on-the-Lake is so perfect for this because you can get completely different backdrops without having to spend half the day travelling around. Most importantly, Nelson Park was also where we got to meet up with Babette, Mick and Emma-Lee’s sweet dog, for some very necessary wedding portraits.
Back at Queen’s Landing, the reception started with Mick and Emma-Lee performing a beautiful choreographed first dance to live music, which was such an incredible way to kick off the evening.
The dance floor was packed, everyone was ready to have a good time and somehow the evening also included one of the most competitive games of musical chairs I have ever witnessed. Turns out putting a bunch of adults in formalwear and taking away their chairs brings out a side of people you may not have previously known existed.
Mick and Emma-Lee’s wedding was elegant without ever feeling too serious, emotional in all the best ways and filled with the kind of moments that make a wedding actually feel like them. From their first look in the gardens and their beautiful Atrium ceremony to portraits around Niagara-on-the-Lake with Babette, their choreographed first dance and the musical chairs showdown, it was such a fun day to photograph.
