A Blended Family Session at St. John’s Conservation Area, Fonthill

There’s something really special about photographing a blended family with all the layers of connection, laughter, and shared history that come together in one place. This beautiful family met me at St. John’s Conservation Area in Fonthill, a quiet gem in Niagara that offers the perfect mix of forest trails, leafy canopies, and peaceful water views.

At the heart of this family are these two who are so warm, grounded, and full of love.

Each brought two grown children into the family, and now that circle has expanded into something even richer: four unique family units, each with their own story, rhythm, and energy.

What I loved most about this session was watching everyone interact, the easy teasing between siblings, the way the grandparents stood back with quiet pride, and the little in-between moments that showed just how much love lives in this family.

St. John’s Conservation Area was the perfect backdrop… soft light filtering through the trees, golden leaves crunching underfoot, and enough space for everyone to move, laugh, and just be themselves.

By the end of the session, we had a mix of group portraits, individual family shots, and those spontaneous moments that always end up being the favourites — a hug between generations, a laugh that couldn’t be posed, a hand resting on a growing belly.

These are the kinds of sessions that remind me why I do what I do — families evolving, growing, and coming together in new ways.

If you’re looking for a peaceful and scenic spot for your next family photos, St. John’s Conservation Area in Fonthill is one of my favourites in Niagara.
